Plinko: the ball-drop game that lives in every crash lobby
A ball drops through a triangle of pegs and lands in a bucket with a multiplier on it. There is no cash-out, no timer and no decision after you press drop. It is not a crash game. It is in every crash lobby anyway, and it is the most-searched casino game that is also an app-store scam.
Plinko is a strange case. It is a 1983 game-show prop, a 2014 Bitcoin casino original, a 2019 Spribe release, a Play Store category with hundreds of entries, and the subject of more "has anyone actually won money?" questions than any casino game we track. The search results for "plinko game" put a free browser toy, a TV-show tribute, Spribe's official page, a scam app and a bookmaker side by side, and none of them tells you which one you are looking at.
This page does. It covers the real-money Plinko you find in crash lobbies, how its rows and risk levels work, the three versions that matter, what the RTP really is, and why the "Plinko earn money" apps flooding Indian, Pakistani and South African app stores pay nobody.
Play the Plinko demo
This is Spribe's Plinko with play money. Set it to 16 rows and high risk and drop fifty balls. Count how many land in the two outer buckets. The answer is usually zero. Then switch to 8 rows and low risk and watch almost everything land near the middle. Those two experiments are the whole game.
What Plinko is, and why it is not a crash game
The format is simple. A triangle of pegs. A ball drops from the apex. At every peg it bounces left or right with equal probability. After the last row it falls into one of a line of buckets, each marked with a multiplier. You win your stake times the bucket's number. That is it.
The maths underneath is a binomial distribution. With 16 rows the ball makes 16 left-or-right choices, and the bucket it lands in is simply how many of those went right. Eight rights and eight lefts puts it in the middle bucket, and there are 12,870 ways to get that. Sixteen rights puts it in the far right bucket, and there is exactly one way to get that. Which is why the middle bucket pays 0.2x to 0.5x and the edge pays 1,000x. The multipliers are the odds, scaled down by the house edge.
So why do we cover it on a crash site? Three reasons:
- It lives in the same lobbies. Spribe ships Plinko alongside Aviator and Mines. Stake's Plinko is an "Original" next to Crash and Limbo. BGaming's is filed with Space XY. Every casino's "Crash" or "Fast Games" tab has it.
- It uses the same provably fair system. Server seed, client seed, nonce, hash. You can verify a Plinko drop the way you verify an Aviator round.
- Players move between them. The person searching "plinko game" today searched "aviator game" last month.
But be clear about the difference. A crash game asks you a question in the middle of the round: now, or later? Plinko asks you nothing. You choose rows, risk and stake, you press drop, and then you watch. There is no cash-out because there is nothing to cash out of. If a crash game is a decision under pressure, Plinko is a lottery ticket with a pretty animation. We like it for exactly that reason, in ten-minute doses.
How to play Plinko step by step
- Choose the number of rows. 8 to 16 in Spribe's and Stake's versions, 8 to 16 "lines" in BGaming's. More rows means more buckets, a wider spread and bigger edge multipliers.
- Choose a risk level. Low, medium (normal) or high. This does not change the pegs; it changes the numbers painted on the buckets. High risk raises the edges and sinks the middle.
- Set a stake. Minimum is usually 0.10 (some versions 0.01), maximum 100 to 1,000 depending on the operator.
- Press drop. One ball falls. In most versions you can press repeatedly and have several balls in the air at once.
- Or use auto play. Set a number of drops and stop conditions (balance down by X, balance up by Y, single win above Z) and let it run.
The round takes about two seconds. With auto play and multiple balls it is possible to put several hundred stakes through in a few minutes, which is the first thing to be careful about.
Sixteen rows, high risk. The 1,000x buckets are at either edge. We have never seen one hit outside of a screenshot.
Rows, risk and the bucket multipliers
Here are the bucket values from the Spribe and 1xBet versions, which are representative. Exact figures differ by a few tenths between versions and some operators round them.
9 rows (10 buckets, shown left to centre; mirrored on the right)
| Risk | Edge | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | Centre |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 5.6x | 2.1x | 1.1x | 1.0x | 0.5x |
| Medium | 13x | 3x | 1.3x | 0.7x | 0.4x |
| High | 29x | 4x | 1.5x | 0.3x | 0.2x |
16 rows (17 buckets, selected values)
| Risk | Edge | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | Centre |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 16x | 9x | 2x | 1.4x | 1.4x | 0.5x |
| Medium | 110x | 41x | 10x | 5x | 3x | 0.3x |
| High | 1,000x | 130x | 26x | 9x | 4x | 0.2x |
Now the probabilities, because this is where the game actually lives. With 16 rows:
| Bucket | Ways to land there | Chance per drop |
|---|---|---|
| Edge (1,000x on high) | 1 | 1 in 65,536 |
| 2nd (130x) | 16 | 1 in 4,096 |
| 3rd (26x) | 120 | 1 in 546 |
| 4th (9x) | 560 | 1 in 117 |
| Centre (0.2x) | 12,870 | about 1 in 5 |
Read those together. On high risk at 16 rows, one drop in five returns a fifth of your stake, roughly half of all drops return less than your stake, and the 1,000x bucket arrives once in 65,000 drops, which at two seconds a drop is 36 hours of continuous play. The game is honest about this: the multipliers are printed on the buckets and the shape of the triangle tells you the odds. It is just that very few people do the arithmetic.
Low risk flattens everything. The centre still pays below stake (0.5x), the edges pay 16x, and most drops land somewhere between 1x and 2x. Sessions are long and swings are small.
Medium is the compromise most people settle on. The 110x edge at 16 rows is a 1-in-65,000 event too; the 10x and 5x buckets at 1-in-546 and 1-in-117 are the ones that actually show up.
High is a lottery. You will lose most drops. The ones you win will occasionally be large. The RTP is the same or close, so this is a question of temperament, not value.

RTP: 97% to 99% depending on which Plinko
This is where version matters more than in any crash game.
Spribe Plinko publishes 97% to 99% depending on the risk level. The exact figures Spribe gives are, approximately, 99% on low, 98% on medium and 97% on high. It is the most widely distributed version and the one in the demo above.
Stake Plinko (Stake Originals) is 99% on every row and risk combination. Stake built it in 2017 as one of its original in-house games, and it is the version every other studio copied. The 1% edge is the best in the format.
BGaming Plinko (released 28 January 2019) publishes 99% as well, with 8 to 16 lines, three risk levels, a 1,000x top bucket and provably fair verification. It is common at crypto casinos and at licensed European operators that take BGaming.
Everyone else: Turbo Games, Hacksaw, Smartsoft (Plinko X), 1xBet's own build, and dozens of crypto-casino originals. Some are at 97%. Some are at 95%. Some do not say. Treat "does not say" as "lower than the ones that do".
For comparison: Aviator and JetX are 97%, Chicken Road 98%, Spaceman 96.5%. A 99% Plinko is the best-value game in most lobbies on paper. In practice the speed of the game eats that advantage, because a 1% edge applied 400 times an hour is still 4% of your hourly turnover.
Spribe vs Stake vs BGaming
| Spribe | Stake Originals | BGaming | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Released | 2019 | 2017 | January 2019 |
| RTP | 97 to 99% by risk | 99% all settings | 99% |
| Rows | 8 to 16 | 8 to 16 | 8 to 16 |
| Risk levels | Low, medium, high | Low, medium, high | Low, normal, high |
| Top bucket | 1,000x (16 rows, high) | 1,000x (16 rows, high) | 1,000x |
| Provably fair | Yes | Yes, with open-source verifier | Yes |
| Demo | Official, embeddable | At Stake, logged out | On BGaming's site |
| Where | Thousands of operators | Stake only | Crypto casinos, EU licensed |
| Look | Flat, bright, Spribe house style | Dark, green-to-red buckets | Cartoonish, bouncy |
Our ranking is Stake, then BGaming, then Spribe, and the gap is small enough that availability should decide. Spribe's demo is the best way to learn the game. Stake's is the best to play if you are at Stake and take crypto. BGaming's is what you will find at a licensed Italian or Estonian casino.

The "Plinko app" and "Plinko earn money" problem
Search "plinko game" from India, Pakistan or South Africa and the top result is a Play Store app. "Plink Space - Play and Win". "Plink Online - Real Win x1000". "Plinko Master", "Plinko Cash", "Lucky Plinko: Big Win". Hundreds of them. Collectively they have tens of millions of installs, and the reviews are a wall of one-star complaints about withdrawals that never arrive.
None of them is a casino game. Here is how they actually work.
The balance is fake. The app shows a cash balance that climbs as you play. It is a number on a screen, not money anywhere. The app has no payment licence, no banking relationship and no intention of paying.
The withdrawal is the hook. When you tap withdraw, you are told you need to reach a threshold (500 rupees, 100 dollars, 2,000 rand). As you approach it, the per-drop earnings shrink. When you reach it, there is a new condition: watch 50 ads, invite 20 friends, "verify" by paying a small fee. The fee version is the dangerous one.
The ads are the business. Every drop shows a video ad. The app earns from those ads. You are not the customer, you are the inventory. The "earn money" framing is there so you keep watching.
Some are worse. A minority ask for card details or a UPI PIN "for verification", or push an APK outside the store that installs something else. Those are not scams in the loose sense. They are theft.
No studio that makes real Plinko (Spribe, Stake, BGaming) has a standalone app. Real Plinko runs in a casino's website or inside a casino's own licensed app, next to slots, with a real cashier, a real KYC process and a real RTP in the info panel. If an app has only Plinko in it, a balance that grows without a deposit, and a withdraw button with conditions, it is not a casino and it will not pay. We are not aware of a single documented payout from any of them.
The pattern. A big number you cannot touch and a padlock on the way out.
The tragedy is that these apps borrow the look of an honest game. Real Plinko at 99% RTP is, by casino standards, as fair as it gets. The scam apps have taken the one casino game with almost no house edge and turned it into a product with no payout at all.
Strategy, or the absence of one
There is nothing to strategise. Rows, risk and stake are the only inputs, they are all set before the drop, and the drop is random. No pattern in previous balls affects the next. No "97.4% win rate" method on YouTube changes the binomial distribution, and the predictor apps sold for Aviator have Plinko versions that are just as empty. The videos that claim one are usually counting a 0.5x bucket as a "win".
What you can do is decide how you want your variance:
- Match rows and risk to your session length. Ten minutes: 8 rows, low. An hour: 12 rows, medium. If you want to chase the 1,000x bucket, know that it is a 36-hour average wait at one drop every two seconds, and budget for that.
- Stake small and resist auto play with multiple balls. The speed of the game is the real edge. A 1% house edge at 400 drops an hour costs more than a 3% edge at 100 rounds an hour.
- Set a stop-win and leave. Plinko's distribution is heavy in the middle. Sessions tend to grind down slowly, interrupted by the occasional 10x. When the 10x comes, that is the moment to close the tab.
- Pick the 99% version where you have the choice. Stake or BGaming over Spribe over an unnamed clone. It is the one lever that actually changes your return.
Plinko has none of the live-panel social pressure that makes Aviator players ride too long, and no cash-out button to hesitate on. It is, in that sense, the safest game in a crash lobby. It is also the fastest. Those two things cancel out more often than you would like.
Where to play Plinko
Spribe's version is at nearly every operator that carries Aviator, Stake's is at Stake, and BGaming's is at the crypto and licensed-European tier. In regulated markets the picture is mixed: BGaming and Spribe Plinko are at licensed casinos in Italy, Estonia, Ontario and some LatAm markets; in the UK a couple of licensed sites carry a Plinko-styled game (MrQ and Paddy Power both list one) but not the Spribe or Stake originals. In India, Pakistan and Bangladesh it is offshore bookmakers only.
Pick your country for the operators, payment methods and legal position where you live:
- ๐ฎ๐ณ India1win, Mostbet, 4rabet
- ๐ต๐ฐ Pakistan1xBet, Mostbet, 1win
- ๐ง๐ฉ Bangladesh1xBet, Mostbet, Melbet
- ๐ฐ๐ช KenyaBetika, Pepeta, Odibets
If your country is not listed, these are the brands that carry a real, RTP-published Plinko and that we have withdrawn from:

11win
Aviator plus the exclusive Lucky Jet; big first-deposit package; UPI, JazzCash, bKash, crypto.

2Mostbet
Cleanest Aviator lobby in South Asia, fast UPI/JazzCash withdrawals, promo code field at signup.

31xBet
Largest crash catalogue anywhere (60+ titles). Interface is cluttered; the Aviator page is a direct link.
When you open the lobby, look for the provider name on the tile. "Spribe", "Stake Originals" or "BGaming" means the game on this page. A chicken, a space theme or a "Plinko Deluxe" from a studio you have not heard of means check the RTP before you stake anything.
Similar games
Plinko's real relatives are the other instant games rather than the curve-based crash titles. Mines has a decision at every step, which Plinko lacks. Chicken Road has the same provably fair system with a cash-out button attached. If you want a crash game that feels as fast as Plinko, Limbo at Stake is the one: set a target, a number is drawn, done.
For the games with a cash-out button, start with Aviator or the full games list, and for the maths behind all of them, how crash games work.
Frequently asked questions
Is Plinko a crash game?
No, not mechanically. In a crash game a multiplier rises and you choose when to stop. In Plinko you choose rows and risk, press drop, and the result is decided by the ball's bounces with no further input. It lives in the same lobbies, comes from the same studios and shares the provably fair system, which is why it is on this site.
What is the RTP of Plinko?
It depends on the version. Spribe's is 97% to 99% depending on the risk level. BGaming publishes 99%. Stake's original is 99% on every setting. Many clones in crypto lobbies are lower and some do not publish a figure at all. Check the provider name in the lobby and look for the RTP in the game's info panel.
How do rows and risk change Plinko?
More rows means more pegs for the ball to bounce off, which makes the extreme edge buckets rarer and lets them carry bigger multipliers. Higher risk reshapes the buckets so the edges pay far more and the centre pays less than your stake. 16 rows on high risk is where the 1,000x bucket lives, and it hits about once in 65,000 drops.
Can I win real money on Plinko?
At a real casino, yes, in the same way you can at any casino game: you stake money, the result is random, and over time the house keeps 1% to 3%. In a 'Plinko earn money' app from an app store, no. Those apps pay nothing. The balance they show you is not withdrawable and never was.
Is the Plinko app real?
There is no official Plinko app from Spribe, Stake or BGaming. Every standalone 'Plinko' app in the Play Store or App Store is either an ad-funded simulator, a fake 'earn money' app that blocks withdrawals, or a shell that opens an offshore casino. If you want Plinko on your phone, use the app of a casino that carries it.
What is the best Plinko strategy?
There is no strategy that changes the return, because the only inputs are rows, risk and stake, and all three are set before the ball drops. What you can choose is the shape of your losses: low risk and few rows for small, steady swings; high risk and 16 rows for long dry spells and rare big hits. Pick one, stake small, stop when you are up.
Which Plinko version is the best?
Stake's original, if you are at Stake: 99% RTP on every setting and the cleanest provably fair implementation. Away from Stake, BGaming's at 99% edges out Spribe's 97% to 99%, but Spribe's is in far more lobbies and has the better demo. Avoid any version that does not state its RTP.
Can I play Plinko for free?
Yes. Spribe's own demo is embedded on this page and it is the real game with play money, including all row and risk settings. Most casinos with Plinko offer a demo toggle too. The free 'Price is Right' Plinko games you will see in search results are a different thing: a TV-show tribute with no multipliers and no stake.
